In the Fall of 2020, FuseSocial joined the Steering Committee for the Wood Buffalo Labour Study. The study — which included significant stakeholder engagement through an employer survey, stakeholder discussion groups, and one-on-one interviews — provides strategies for regional stakeholders to better understand and strategically plan for future workforce requirements and to identify specific workforce needs and shortages, emerging occupations and workforce trends and training gaps.
Based on recommendations in the Regional Labour Market Study, a Regional Labour Market Committee was formed in October 2021. Chaired by the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce, multiple stakeholders, including FuseSocial, will meet monthly to review strategic priorities and action items. Additionally, the committee will use current market and employer feedback to inform and update the mandate of the committee on an on-going basis.
The committee will remain in place as improving labour market conditions in Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo is an ever-evolving target.
